Missed opportunity by not taking pics of the Conestoga wagon passing through American landmarks, but here’s a couple I snapped during my shift in the Saturn through Shreveport and Dallas. If you’ve never driven through Dallas, don’t. The most horrendous roads EVER, and that’s after driving the everlasting bone-jarring concrete in Mississippi!!
In bed at 2:30am and up at 6:00 for some final tear-filled farewells before our 7:00am departure, today is the day we’ve been anticipating all these months… Lots of mixed emotions, but we’re finally and enthusiastically on the road to fulfill our modern day Manifest Destiny.

That’s what everyone keeps asking… Now, it’s 24 hours away from shoving off, and I’m thinking, “If by excited you mean a complete basket case, then YES!!”
Following the suggestions shared in Vivint’s tips for moving, we are doing our best to “come up with some creative meals using only what’s left in our fridge and pantry.”
We’ll be loading up in just one week. Still much to do before we pull chocks, but we’re getting there. One task now scratched off our to-do list was to plan the driving route from east to west…
We’re three weeks out from putting this Big Top Circus on the road, and I’ve been completely hands off of the operation over the past few days while I worked on some very meaningful farewells to dear family in MD and PA. (Well, I ordered our new composting toilet on-line, if that counts.)
It’s just math mixed with a little arts and crafts… Make a big square out of insulated plywood sandwiches, waterproof it, cut into a 20′ circle. Pretty simple stuff when you’re looking at the alternative of buying the pre-made yurt platform for $2500. Our cost: $750 and some wounded egos.

Eight hundred bucks brought in so far with only half the goods gone. All our worldly possessions up for grabs over the course of 3 days.
